Meet Your New Owner: An ISA Board Certified Master Arborist

Wes Rivers isn’t just any arborist. He holds the ISA Board Certified Master Arborist designation, the highest level of certification offered by the International Society of Arboriculture. Fewer than two percent of all ISA Certified Arborists in the world have earned this distinction.

Wes earned his Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University, with a minor in Horticulture. He is also ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified and Texas Oak Wilt Qualified, bringing more than 20 years of hands-on arboriculture experience to TreeNewal.

His career path tells the story of a professional who has always pursued excellence. Wes started in landscaping and lawn care in Dallas before joining Alpine Tree Service, then moving on to Bartlett Tree Experts in Southlake. At Bartlett, he ranked among the top three producers in the North Texas region and 25th out of 400 ISA Certified Arborists nationally. Clients who worked with Wes at Alpine or Bartlett can now find him right here at TreeNewal.

What truly sets Wes apart is his expertise in turf grass management and general horticulture. This gives him a rare, holistic perspective on tree care that most arborists simply don’t have.

“Homeowners don’t care exclusively about their trees. They care about the entire landscape,” Wes explains. “How we manage the trees affects the turf and plants, and vice versa. I look at the property as a complete ecosystem, and that makes a real difference in the results we deliver.”

That whole landscape approach means when a TreeNewal crew visits your property, they’re not just evaluating your trees in isolation. They’re considering how every decision affects your turf, your plants, and the overall health of your outdoor space.

Honoring a Legacy, Building the Future

TreeNewal was founded in 2017 by David Gaona, whose entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to outstanding customer experiences helped build the company into an SMU Cox Dallas 100 honoree, recognized as one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the DFW area.

Wes joined TreeNewal as Vice President of Operations and Co-Owner in February 2022, and together they built something special. Following David’s passing in December 2025, Wes has stepped into full ownership with a clear mission: honor the foundation David built while continuing to raise the bar for tree care in North Texas.

“David poured his heart into this company. His creativity, his drive, and his belief that tree care could be done better are woven into everything we do at TreeNewal,” said Wes. “Our team, our customers, and our commitment to sustainable tree care will only grow stronger.”
